Description: Here is an early saw vise or clamp by E.C. Stearns & Co. of Syracuse, New York. No patent number showing, but it was "applied for".
* E.C. Stearns & Co., Syracuse. N.Y. on a jaw face...
* "No 3" on the lower jaw face.
* "______ Pattern" & "Patents Ap______ ___", on the back side of the top jaw...the word preceding Patterns is missing & the word(s) following Patents is missing. Bothe the left & right jaw edges have been modified.
The handle swivels as it should. This saw vise was not rusted up but it lacked much of the original paint. It has been cleaned & painted w/satin black.
Measurements: 8 3/4" front/back withe the handle folded inward...10 3/4" wide 7 3 3/4" high
Condition: nice appearing...2 areas that have been modified/trimmed...
