TIG welding rod. AWS: 5.16-90 grade. Class: ERTi-5 ELI.
ERTi-5 ELI (6AL-4V ELI) AWS A 5.16-90 CLASS ER Ti-5 ELI
ERTi-5 ELI is a specially processed grade used for welding the 6%
Aluminum - 4% Vanadium alloys. The ELI refers to "Extra Low Interstitial"
content. ERTi-5 ELI grade controls the amount of gases trapped within the
structure of the Titanium. The ELI grade is less sensitive to embrittlement at
temperatures above 500 F. The gases which can cause reactivity are
primarily oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen. By controlling the presence of
these gases, the fracture toughness is greatly increased. The degree of purity
of the ERTi-5 ELI grade is such that it may be used for surgical implants,
critical airframe components and liquid hydrogen storage tanks. Tensile
strength: 130,000 psi. Yield strength is 120,000 psi. Elongation is 10%.
