50" travel cnc x-y axis gantry linear bearing laser
This is a 61-1/2" inch long linear ways as removed from a never sold wide format ink jet printer.
The carriage has 50" of travel from stop to stop
This linear track is designed to shuttle a 10 lb. carriage back and forth at high speed day in and day out.
It is fabricated with an aluminum extrusion "backbone" and stainless steel inserts for the actual tracks
The carriage is cast aluminum with eight roller ball bearings, four on the face and two each angled on the top and bottom back.
The two lower back bearings are self adjusting with springs to tension and hold the carriage against the track.
This bearing arrangement makes the carriage very stable but with almost zero friction
Possible uses include the "y" axis of a gantry style CNC laser cutter or other non contact linear movement applications.
(This is not suitable for a CNC router or similar)
The track has a mylar or similar linear "scale" tape and encoder just like on your printer at home. (see pictures)
