Fischer spikeguard lightning suppressors fcc-550 series

I don't know much about these but here's what the manufacturer says:
FCC-550 Series Spikeguard Suppressor Characteristics
The FCC-550 series hybrid protector is designed for transient voltage protection for audio and low frequency signal and control circuits that are either digital or analog with operating voltages of one volt or less.
This series of Spikeguards are composed of both gaseous discharge, and silicon components that can be subjected to repeated transients. When properly installed with shielded conductors, the output transient will not exceed 8.5 volts for the duration of transients with peak transient voltages at the input that exceed several thousand volts, or the basic insulation level of the shielded conductors.
The series impedance is approximately 80 ohms. The shunt impedance is several kilohms resistance paralleled by no more than 500 picofarads of capacitance; except during transient suppression, when it then approaches zero.
The 550 series may be specified for clamping voltages larger than 8.5 volts for circuits that operate with voltages higher than one volt. Voltages as high as 200 volts may be specified. When specifying a clamping voltage higher than 8.5 volts use the following part numbering method, FCC-550-(clamping voltage).
