The 5525's heart lies in it's dual oscillating drums. Unlike most drum sanders' metal drums, the 5525's drums are rubber coated, so they absorb heat instead of reflecting it. Also, they are fluted, giving a space where air can flow in between the sandpaper and the drum, thereby cooling it. And of course, they oscillate, over a half inch in each direction, which reduces heat buildup even more and minimizes streaking. Worried about changing sandpaper? Don't be. Changing paper is a breeze with the spiral wrap and quick load drum endcaps, and their spring-loaded clips keep the paper tightly wrapped around the drums.
