Detex ecl-230D exit control lock-w/cylinder & bar guard

The ECL-230D is a single point deadbolt door lock designed for many retail store applications. It's purpose is to keep people, either shoplifters or employees, from walking out your back door with your merchandise or passing it off to a friend at your back door. It works. You get to keep the profit you worked so hard to get.
It is U.L. listed panic hardware and meets ADA requirements. This means that you will get no hassles from your building inspector. Application of this door hardware is designed for outswinging exit doors. This unit is not fire rated for use on labeled fire doors. For fire rated door applications you need to look at the model ECL-600. This lock has an additional latch to meet the self latching code requirements.
The lock is mounted on the surface of the door and the strike is normally mounted on the surface of the door frame on the soffit portion of a steel frame. So you don't have to have any special holes in your door or frame. This lock can also be mounted on a narrow stile aluminum and glass storefront door with the stile dimension as narrow as 1-3/4", not including the glass stop. An additional item is required for this application to cover the back side of the lock that would be seen through the glass and protects the glass with two rubber spacers. The item number for the decorative backplate is ECL-475K. (write down that number if you think you may want it.) It is listed in our store and sold seperately.
An additional item that is recommended is the "Bar Guard Kit". Item number ECL-436K is included with this lock. It serves several purposes:
1. It helps to keep a fire hose from getting caught behind the paddle lever if a fire should occur and is required by some fire districts - you should check with yours.
2. It also helps keep you from snagging your clothing on the paddle bar as well as protecting the lock from being knocked off the door by a heavy cart of merchandise that your staff may be taking through the door.
3. It helps keep the lock from being torn from the door when the paddle lever is used by your staff to pull the door closed to initially lock the door. We recommend an additional pull be mounted in the same vicinity for this purpose. This is an inexpensive item and it will protect a high priced item from damage!
In addition, outside entry is possible by simply adding one more rim cylinder and a pull handle to the exterior of the door. The lock is predesigned for outside key control and all the parts are in the lock body as it comes in the box. The only extra requirement is that you must add the rim cylinder. The mounting template is also clearly marked for locating the function (through the door) hole for the exterior cylinder. The hole diameter, through the door, if you are using our cylinder is 1-1/4". Now you'll be able to come in quickly from your back parking lot when it's raining. (One small point - outside key control won't work on a glass door and is not one of your options, sorry.)
