OHMEDA 5410 VOLUME MONITOR USED IN GOOD CONDITION

This unit uses a spinning vane sensor on expiratory limb of anesthesia circuit, which interrupts a light beam to measure flow velocity.
Not intended for less than 20 kg, or VT less than 150 mL. Accurate to 10%.
Used on Datex-Ohmeda AS/3, Unitrol and Modulus gas machines.
Principle: Modified Fleisch pneumotachograph with two sided Pitot tube. Measures flow through a tube (the sensor, not included) by the pressure drop across it. The Pitot tube facing the flow measures total pressure, the tube facing away the static pressure. The difference between these two is the dynamic pressure, which is proportional to the square of gas flow.
Sensor (NEW TVX Flow Cartridge INCLUDED PN#237-2228-70)
The monitor compensates for the effect of different gas mixtures (oxygen, nitrous oxide, air) on the measured volumes. From the derived flows (flow rate, peak flow) and measured pressures (end-expiratory, plateau, minimum, maximum) and volumes (inspiratory and expiratory VE and VT), the monitor calculates the compliance and resistance. These are displayed as flow-volume (resistance) and pressure-volume (compliance) loops.
