Hand crafted copper foundation vent hood
I designed this decorative foundation vent hood to allow the home owner to add a custom look at an affordable price. The look of a quality home is in the details. The vent hood cover is constructed completely out of solid 16 oz. copper. I added radius corners and a sweep on the sides for a truly custom look. Also, a double hem on the hood face and a copper angel underneath for added strength . As you can see from the pictures, most foundation vents are not very attractive. This vent cover not only adds a better look, but it helps prevent rain from blowing in. This is for the vent hood only. The vent is not included. I also have matching copper dryer and range hood vents.
Copper is a wonderful metal. Over time it will add its own natural, protective coating ranging from a warm dark brown to a beautiful green patina depending on its location - wet or dry climate.
Installation: I used two 3/16" concrete anchors with and brass screws. One on each side. I do not believed these need to be caulked . But if you do, I would caulk on the underneath side because some silicone caulking will turn green on copper. I do not put mounting hole in the flange because I think it is best that you locate the anchors in the mortar joint. It is designed to cover a 16" x 8" foundation vent.
