(3) kits thermo-pulse temperature control / thermostat
3 Complete Kits. Each Individually packaged.
Thermopulse Temperature Controller. Designed to cycle the flame or heating element in a furnace. Increase efficiency by optimizing the plenum temperature. Prevent circulating cold air, or wasting energy by running excessive temperatures. * Many other possible uses as well. {a great digital thermometer/ I am using one to display the outdoor temp on my kitchen wall.}
Includes: easy to read 3 x 1/2 inch LED display, solid state temperature probe with a 5ft cable, and a mounting clamp for the probe. *Possible applications include Solar heating, beer making, jerky drying, tobacco curing, or even commercial HVAC.
Unlike a typical thermostat, It has pots allowing you to set exactly at what temperature the heating element turns on and off, and it allows you to locate the probe where you want. As delivered it allows a low limit setting from 69degF to 102 degF The upper limit is adjustable from 102 degF to 205 degF The output relay closes when the lower limit is reached, and opens when the upper limit is reached. It closes again when the temp has again fallen to the lower limit.
The output relay is rated for 5amps at 24 volts, or 2.5 amps at 120volts. - good power! Accepts 24vac (or DC) input power.
My guess is that re-scaling the temperture range for these limits would be simple enough using the additional potentiometers and/or changing resister values, but I am not a EE, and cannot make any recommendations They is what they is. Good potential profit in the right application, you couldn't make them for this price. See photo of the circuit board.
As delivered: It displays temperature. With an open circuit: it shows -83degf with a short it shows +384degF It seems very accurate per another thermometer from -2f to over 240f . (-2 is the lowest temp I had available. On the high side It seems to read correctly to over 300 degF where the probe wire starts to smoke a little). At 300 the wire insulation is clearly nearing it's melting limit but the probe still was responsive. With just the probe exposed to the heat, It read up to +384deg somewhere just north of there either the thermistor or some insulator in it's assembly failed and it shorted out for good. I would say the practical range is probably no greater than from -20degF to +260degF , but I cannot make any promise for use other than with the typical furnace plenum temperatures it is scaled for. I do know that people have modified it for other purposes.
*These units are originally intended for a specific low voltage application. While the device has been used for other purposes, no recommendations or instructions for safe operation are provided nor implied. Any use for switching of dangerous voltages is of course not recommended here. There is no engineering support, nor technical documentation available other than as printed on the unit itself. No other specifications are available
