The DCP 700 Digital Control Programmer is really a family of microprocessor-based programmer only and programmer controllers that carry out predetermined processing or testing schedules on a time and variable basis. The variable can be temperature, pressure, relative humidity or any other measurable and controllable quantity. Both the programmer only and the programmer controller cone in one- or two-channel versions to accommodate single- and two-loop applications. Plus, there is a two-channel, programmer controller dedicated to the measurement and control of Relative Humidity using a proven wet bulb and dry bulb temperature measurement technique. Choice of output type for controller and output characterization form for programmers makes it easy to match a DCP with most final control devices and process controllers.
The DCP s clearly labeled keys, easy-to-read displays, and prompt messages quickly guide you through the steps for establishing programs that change the magnitude of the variable, regulate the rate of change, and precisely time the beginning, duration and termination of these changes. When initiated, program runs take a process through a simple or very complex series of steps, that we call segments, without attention from an operator. The DCP can automatically repeat a program identically time after time. The ability to download and up-load programs to and from a plug-in memory module means you can create a limitless library of programs for every application.
Programs can also include event settings to trigger alarms and/or control auxiliary equipment at specific points in the program. The settings can be made in time, process variable, size of the difference between the process variable (PV) and set point (SP), commonly called deviation, or all three.
External contacts can be used to supplement certain keyboard operations for the added flexibility of performing some operations from a remote location. Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and digital displays let you know at a glance the status of the process, program, and control operation. The DCP includes many features to provide the flexibility and adaptability needed in any control method.
* Plug-In Memory Modules supply an inexhaustible capacity for program storage and an easy means for changing programs to meet varying application needs.
* Sizable Memory Capacity lets you enter up to 39 programs with as many as 99 segments each; then you can download the 39 programs to a memory module for external storage and enter another 39 programs in the DCP.
* Automatic Cycling lets you select a program or a portion of a program to be cycled (repeated) up to 9999 times.
* Configurable Tuning Constants and other control-related parameters let you establish up to nine different combinations of constants and parameters which can be assigned on a per segment basis in every program to optimize controller response.
* Versatile Operator Interface lets you initiate such actions as start, hold, jump, restart, reset, advance segment, hot start, verify program contents, and copy or delete a program. Many of these actions can also be initiated through the closure of a remote contact.
* Integral Auto-Manual Station lets you switch to manual mode to adjust output manually through the keyboard.
* Scaleable Range for linear current and voltage inputs lets you set the desired low and high range values within a range of 19999 to 19999 with or without decimal point.
* Choice of PID-A or PID-B control algorithm lets you tailor control response to application needs.
* Selectable synchronous or asynchronous mode gives you a choice of applying operator actions to one or both program/control channels.
