Re. Its Software: the handheld s internal software is updated automatically when they had their annual maintenance or when the MV-RS software (PC software
associated with the handhelds and reading system) was upgraded which in-turn automatically upgrades the handhelds when they linked up electronically.
The newest version is MV-RS 7.12.3. The G5R listed herein has MV-RS software loaded on it.

The Itron G5R is a rugged, flexible, and powerful handheld computer. It is compact, lightweight, water and dust resistant, and operates in a wide range of temperatures. The G5R integrates the functionality of a modern DOS computer into an ergonomic package that provides all the basic meter data collection functionality required within a single unit. The G5R uses a radio transceiver for walk-by meter reading data collection. The G5R handheld can be used for walk-by data collection from endpoint-equipped electricity, gas or water meters.
The G5R is compatible with the following Itron data collection software systems: MV-RS, Premiereplus4 and Integrator. Data collection software is used to download route information to the handheld, upload the collected meter data and transfer it to a billing system or meter data management system, such as Itron Enterprise Edition Meter Data Management.
If you have a Badger model 25 RTR meters. The ERT(register transmitter) must be also Itron. These handheld units work only with the Itron ERTs. Thus, your Badger meters need to have the Itron ERTs on them. If it is some other make of transmitter, then these handhelds will not work.
