This lock set works you through, 2 to 6 pins. You begin by working on a lock with two pins in it, once you master that, move to three, four, five and then six pins. Each lock comes with a key that opens the lock, but none of the locks are keyed the same to insure you are challenged at each level of practice.
The cut-away lock cylinder has openings cut into the pin chambers that allow you to see the inner workings of the lock when a key is inserted. You actually can see the pins moving up and down as the key slides into and out of the lock.
You can see how the pins line up when a good key is inserted into the lock.
You can also see what happens when the wrong key is inserted.
I also put extra pins, springs, and a wrench to open the top of the lock. You can then use the extra parts to change things around and practice working on a real lock.
You can see from the pictures that it is easy to see the pins and the interaction with the key when it is inserted.
