These small environmental chambers were used to test circuit boards and small electronic products at hot and cold temperatures. They use electric resistance heating and liquid nitrogen for cooling. They are typically good for up to about 200C and down to -60 C.
The doors have holes so wires can pass through so the items can be powered up and tested at temperature extremes. The doors have handles that quickly allow them to come completely off to facilitate the wiring that goes to the product being tested.
