The LOM 2030E is designed to build three dimensional wood like models and molds from CAD files. To build parts, the LOM 2030E can use either the high performance LOM papers (LPH 042 or LPH 080) or the standard LOM paper (LPS 038) The machine comes with a "Control" computer which is used to control the LOM 2030E and process CAD files. The LOM 2030E allows an additional computer to be connected to the control computer, this allows the LOM 2030E to build a part while a CAD file for a different part is being processed.
