If you have the Sherline Model #3551 Screwless Mill Vise, you will know that the factory supplied hex socketed screw is both time consuming to use when locking up and removing work held in the vise. This set, composed of an ergonomic Kip NOVO-Grip high tech composite polymer hand tightened wing nut and a high strength 304 18-8 work hardened stainless steel rolled thread stud, locked with a countering hex socket screw, makes the Sherline milling vise much more convenient and easy to use.
The highest quality NOVO-Grip is made of the same polymer, fiberglass and metal composite structure as the now famous Glock postol frame. A specially machined 6061 aluminum bushing prevents damage to the movable jaw member of the vise.
. Installation is easy and can be done with only the 3/32 hex wrench supplied with most all Sherline mills. You dissemble the vise by removing the screw. The stainless steel stud goes into the pull down nut in place of the screw. Using the 3/32 hex wrench screw in the 1/4 inch long 10-32 setscrew. That locks the stud tightly into the "pull down" nut. Then you thread the stud through the bottom of the vise and through the movable jaw. Place the custom made bushing over the dome washer and put on the large NOVO-Grip wing nut. You're done and won't need the hex wrench to lock up the vise any more. Get a lot of convenience and time savings for a small amount of money.
