Rocker milling wedge vise for sherline taig etc. 10-32
This is for one wedge vise, four 10 - 32 x 3/4" long screws, one 10 - 32 x1/2" long screw and five washers. Two screws hold the slotted stationary jaw to the table and two screws hold the main vise body to the table. The shorter screw goes through the movable jaw and tightens it against the main body's three tapered faces which in turn provide lateral clamping motion. Very little turning force is required to achieve strong gripping force. It is meant for use in T - slot milling tables, tooling plates and fixtures.
You will no longer be limited to only a couple of inches of travel as in most small vises, since the jaw opening is only limited by your table size. Also, work lifting is not an issue, since the wedge jaw actually pulls down on the work piece. There are three carefully positioned tapered faces to keep the movable jaw square/parallel as the screw is tightened (one tapered face is offset and hidden inside). Equal lateral pressure is applied on the work piece, so holding a part off to the side is possible, without having to put a spacer on the other side. On the stationary jaw, there is a flat face on one side and a V notch on the other for round work pieces.
