Aircraft aviation automotive o-ring removal tool set
Well, the whole set is FINALLY here! The complete, three-tool set includes one of each shown size: 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2".
The purpose of these tools is to provide mechanics with a safe, effective way of removing o-rings and back-up rings without damage to the o-ring groove. There are two simple reasons that this tool works: 1) It is machined to a specific angular dimension to allow the best mechanical advantage possible; and 2) It is made from a brass alloy that is hard enough to be effective, yet soft enough that it will not damage aluminum, magnesium, steel, stainless steel or other alloy tubing, housings, etc. (even chromed, hard-anodized and cad plated surfaces).
A really brief history: I have been in the aircraft maintenance and overhaul field for decades and have seen mechanics use all kinds of picks, scribes, screwdrivers, spoons etc. to remove o-rings, and then seen the damage done: nicks, gouges, scratches all causes for leaking connections and ruined piece parts and/or components. The negative effects of these errors caused by improper maintenance is startling; in part replacement costs, time lost, and the obvious safety-of-flight issue. I ve been using Capson s O-Ring Removal Tool now for about three years and can tell you that I won t use anything else you simply cannot get a better tool for the job.
