Research Grade Fetal Bovine Serum is a very high quality serum with all the attibutes of the U.S. and USDA origin FBS except the endotoxin and hemoglobin concentrations are, by design, elevated. Specifications for endotoxin are < 20 EU/ml and Hemoglobin < 30mg/dl. Also, some testing is less comprehensive. This process yields a more cost effective FBS for price-conscious consumers, yet this FBS will perform very well in many routine cell culture applications.
