This is a very versatile little knife. The finger hole provides an absolutely slip-proof grip, and allows you to use your knife hand for grasping, without putting down the knife. It also acts as the lock point into the Kydex sheath. Pressing a finger button through the hole releases the knife, allowing it to be withdrawn. The holes in the handle will accept a light chain or lanyard, if you wish to hang the knife that way.
