COSMETICALLY THIS CUT OFF SAW IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR A USED CUT-OFF SAW. THIS CUT OFF SAW DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT WAS USED FOR MASONRY WORK. THERE ISN T ANY CONCRETE DUST OR MASONRY RESIDUE ANYWHERE ON THIS SAW. IT MAY HAVE BEEN USED FOR CUTTING METAL ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE IS A BOSCH TYPE 1A METAL CUTTING WHEEL MOUNTED ON THIS SAW. THERE IS ALSO SOME PURPLE PAINT ON THE HOUSING BY THE HANDLE. THE SAW HAS THE TYPICAL SCUFFS AND SCRATCHES NORMALLY FOUND ON A USED CUT-OFF SAW. I WAS SURPRISED WHEN I CHECKED THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BELT HOUSING AND IT WASN T WORN THROUGH LIKE A LOT OF THE QUTQUIK SAWS I HAVE SEEN.
I PERSONALLY TESTED THIS SAW AND IT RUNS GREAT. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS SAW STARTED SINCE SEPTEMBER. IT WAS RUNNING WHEN WE PURCHASED IT ON 5/14/09. DURING IT S TIME IN STORAGE THE SPARK PLUG BECAME FOULED. I REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG WITH A KNOWN GOOD SPARK PLUG AND IT POPPED OFF ON THE FIRST PULL AFTER I TIGHTENED THE PLUG AND PUT THE CAP ON IT.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT THE NEW OWNER MAKE SURE THE UNIT HAS THE CORRECT SPARK PLUG FOR THE TS-400 INSTALLED. I USED A PLUG FROM A STIHL CHAINSAW THAT WE VE BEEN USING FOR PARTS. THIS TS-400 RAN GREAT AFTER I INSTALLED THE PLUG. CHANCES ARE THAT IT WILL RUN EVEN BETTER WHEN A BRAND NEW PLUG THAT IS MADE FOR THE TS-400 WITH THE CORRECT GAP SETTING IS INSTALLED, RATHER THAN SOME OLD USED CHAIN SAW SPARK PLUG WITH AN UNKNOWN GAP SETTING.
THIS STIHL HAS PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT IN IT!!
