I used to be a small time sports better, only betting games that I was at or watching on TV. The problem that I found is that it always felt as if I might as well be flipping a coin to determine my bet. A very helpless feeling! I searched around, trying to get any edge I could, but only ended up paying way to much for "so called" betting systems, which all turned out to be a joke. You can't rely on a "system" to determine the outcome of a game that consists of 18+ players, when so many variables come into play.
So I asked myself "what would be easier than predicting 18 players?"...."Of course!, predicting the one single person that has the most control over the game, the HOME PLATE UMPIRE!"
The Umpire stands alone, relies on no one, and has the most influence on the outcome!
I have organized a fully detailed list of all of the umpires from year 2000 to the current 2010 umpires. The list consists of all the information you would ever want to know when placing your bet.
For any given umpire you can see how often the home team won, how often the away team won, how often the game went over, how often the game went under, how many strike outs per game, how many walks per game, etc etc.
Some umpires have averaged better than a 70% rate of the game going over the "run total line" in the game in which they are behind the plate. There are also numerous that have a similar % for the games at which they were behind the plate, the game went under the "run total line".
I have come to find out, the one thing you can't argue with is, STATISTICS! If the same Umpire maintains pretty much the SAME average in EVERY stat group for several years, at some point it is no longer a coincidence!
