If you bought this new (version E mini from Robot Country USA), it would cost $3875
If you go on their website you'll notice it says version E has background music capability and animated controller, this is all done from a box wired to the robot, it's not a wireless controller. The animated controller allows you to adjust movement speed of head & eyes and mic mix & chip mix.
I got this one discounted because the mustache is a bit crooked, but it's really not that bad so I never bothered having it fixed.
You can record 9 short messages or one longer message, it also has a motion sensor so you can set it up to say a message when someone walks by.
I purchased this robot with the intentions of taking it to schools to teach children about plumbing safety, but never got around to doing it. I did use the robot for a presentation at a networking group meeting I was in, I dressed him in a company jacket and hat and pre-recorded a skit to look like we were talking to each-other (the group members said it was the most interesting presentation they ever had and that the robot really looked like it was interacting with me).
When doing the presentation mentioned above the built-in message recorder wasn't long enough, so I bought a digital recorder that plays upto 8 hrs and fit in his shirt pocket. Example: when I recorded the message for my skit, I paused from speaking for the proper amount of time it would take me to respond before speaking his next line and so on. This gave the impression of us interacting with each other.
{Tell them your name!} OK, as you probably guessed I call the robot Johnny.
{What throw in the digital recorder!} OK, I guess I'll throw-in the digital recorder!
{Holes!} No Johnny, I can't cut holes in the box so you can see where your going.
{Too tight!} Johnny, If I don't package you in good, you'll bounce around in the box.
I can't wait - I mean... I hate to see him go.
He is a real attention getter!
