L-glutamine is an essential amino acid required by virtually all mammalian and insect cells grown in culture. It is used as an energy source, incorporated into protein, and also used in nucleic acid metabolism. Penicillin-Streptomycin is a broad spectrum bacteriostatic and bacteriocidal agent with activity against both Gram Positive and Gram Negative organisms. Penicillin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Streptomycin inhibits prokaryote protein synthesis by preventing the transition from initiation complex to chain-elongating ribosome and causes miscoding.
